MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s track team hosts the 2005 State Farm Games, its final home meet of the indoor season, on Friday, Feb.4, and Saturday, Feb. 5, at the WVU Shell Building.
West Virginia welcomes a wide variety of teams from around the region to Morgantown for the annual meet. The pentathlon is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 4, while the remaining field and track events will be held on Saturday, Feb. 5.
The Mountaineers are coming off their strongest showing of the year at the Penn State National Open on Jan. 29. WVU finished the weekend with one NCAA provisional, four BIG EAST and 11 ECAC qualifying marks.
Junior Nancy Regalbuto registered West Virginia’s only top finish after posting a first place finish in the high jump. Regalbuto’s ECAC qualifying jump of 1.73 meters propelled her to be honored as the WVU Varsity Sports Report’s athlete of the week. The Hedgesville, W.Va., native owns a total of three high jump titles on the season.
Senior Jennifer Davis shattered the 16-year-old Penn State record of 2:49.00 in the 1,000 meters when she crossed the line in 2:48.72 to capture a second place finish.
Sophomore Jessica Czaikowski posted her third consecutive NCAA provisional time in the 60 meter hurdles after recording a second place finish and a personal best time of 8.37.
Saturday’s field events are set to start at 9:30 a.m. with the track events beginning at 11 a.m. The meet is scheduled to conclude at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Saturday evening.
