Men's Soccer: WVU Inks Six for 2005

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University head men's soccer coach Mike Seabolt today announced the signing of six recruits for the 2005 season.
"We're very excited about the new additions to our program," says Seabolt. "We feel that all six signees will make a great impact."
Seabolt's class of six include midfielders Zak Boggs, Kolby Lacrone and Sean Brooks, as well as defenders Dave Herring, Sean Lindsey and Jonathon Wngrin. The class is composed of players from five different states.
Boggs is a native of Parkersburg, W.Va. He spent three years at Parkersburg High where he was the 2003 West Virginia high school player of the year before transferring to the Pendleton School at the IMG Soccer Academy in Bradenton, Fla. Boggs is a five-year member of the West Virginia Olympic Development team (ODP) as well as a Tae Kwan Do national free sparring champion.
"In particular the signing of Boggs represents the signing a step forward for soccer in the state of West Virginia," says Seabolt. "He is a very good in-state product."
Kolby Lacrone is a 2003 and 2004 first team Division II all-Ohio selection from Dresden Tri-Valley High. Lacrone captained his team from 2002-04. The Zanesville, Ohio, native holds the Ohio High School Athletic Association career records for assists (109) and points (126). Lacrone also helped lead his club team to the United States Youth Soccer Association Region II finals in 2004.
Jonathon Wangrin was a three-year starter for head coach Neil Bloom at Lassiter High in Marietta, Ga., and was voted the team's midfielder of the year. His club team, Silverbacks SC Red, captured titles at the Atlanta Cup and Snickers State Cup as well as advancing to the Southern Regional Quarterfinals.
Sean Brooks of Woodstock, Ga., was a three-time all-county selection at Etowah High. Brooks' play also earned he team MVP honors his junior and senior years. Brooks was also a teammate of Wangrin on the Silverbacks and helped guide them to the Atlanta Cup and Snickers State Cup titles.
Rounding out the class are Glassboro, N.J., native Dave Herring and Syracuse, N.Y., native Sean Lindsey.
Seabolt and his staff have also added three other players to the roster for 2005. Sophomore transfer Jyler Noviello from South Georgia Community College transferred to WVU in January. Freshmen Donald Laguerre of Carapo Village Arima, Trinidad, and Mitchell Snowden of New Plymouth, New Zealand, also enrolled in school in January.
