Football: TSN Recognizes Three Freshmen

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia quarterback Pat White, offensive guard Ryan Stancheck and running back Steve Slaton were named to The Sporting News Freshman All-America teams, announced today.
White, a 6-foot-1-inch, 185-pounder from Daphne, Ala., ad Stancheck, a 6-4, 285-pound Cincinnati native, were named to the TSN Freshman All-America first team while Slaton, a 5-10, 185-pound Levittown, Pa., resident, was honored on the second team.
Kicker Pat McAfee was listed as an Honorable Mention Freshman All-American as a specialist. The Sporting News picked three All-America teams and also recognized honorable mention peformers.
Both Slaton and White have previously been selected to the Rivals.com and CollegeFootballNews.com Freshmen All-America teams.
