Women's Tennis: WVU Gets Wins at Penn State Invite

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The West Virginia University team closed out its fall season at the Penn State Invitational in State College, Pa. on Nov. 11-12, 2005.
In competition on Friday, Stacey Percival, Monica Lyskawa and Catherine Koontz all got victories in matches against Penn State. Kelly Walsh, Ashley Constantine, Natalia Prinz and Raynie Theis fell in play. The Mountaineers went 2-1 on the day in doubles action as Prinz-Speaker defeated Goeta-Frazier of Temple, 8-4, and Lyskawa-Constantine defeating Altdoerffer-Pattabi of Temple 8-3. The duo of Percival-Theis fell to Kurashima-Maslesa of Temple 8-4.
West Virginia took on Temple in singles play on Saturday, Nov. 12. Prinz, Colleen Speaker and Constantine led the way as they were all victorious in their respective matches. Lyskawa, Percival, Walsh, Theis and Koontz were defeated. In doubles action against Penn State, Constantine-Lyskawa defeated Niculescu-Dohanics, 8-1, while Koontz-Walsh defeated Shedd-Harclerode, 8-3. Percival-Theis fell to Holzberg-BeVard, 8-4, while Prinz-Speaker lost to Shular-Morzan, 8-4.
The Mountaineers kick off its regular season on January 21 at 1 p.m. when they play host to Wright State.
