MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University women’s soccer player Ashley Banks has been named to the Soccer America national team of the week for her efforts in leading the Mountaineers to two BIG EAST victories last weekend.
Banks is one of four forwards named to this week’s team.
The Annandale, Va., native helped the Mountaineers secure second place in the BIG EAST’s Division A by scoring a goal in each of West Virginia’s two wins last week. Banks added an insurance goal in the victory over then-No.9 Marquette and scored the game-winner over South Florida.
The sophomore midfielder is currently tied for the team lead in goals scored (4) and is second on the team in points (9) behind senior Marisa Kanela.
Banks and the rest of the No. 16 Mountaineers are next in action at Villanova on Friday, Oct. 14 at 4 p.m. WVU then travels to Georgetown for a 1 p.m., match on Sunday, Oct. 16.
