WVU's Bianchi Wins Athlon Spirit Award

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University senior cheerleader Andrea Bianchi recently won the second annual Athlon Sports Sideline Spirit Contest and will be featured in next season’s 2005 national edition of the Athlon Sports 2005 College Football Annual.
Bianchi, a Harrisburg, Pa., resident and an accounting major at WVU, received 75,959 votes in an on-line poll on Athlon’s web site to outdistance Miami’s Sahyli Ramirez by more than 22,000 votes.
Contestants from Purdue, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Nebraska and Arizona State were finalists.
The West Virginia University cheerleading program will also be awarded $1,000 by Athlon by virtue of Bianchi’s winning tally.
