Morgantown, W.Va. - The West Virginia University men’s soccer team (2-2-0) hosts Marshall (2-2-0) Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m.
The Mountaineers enter the match after splitting a pair of games at the Virginia Tech Classic.
WVU began last weekend with a 2-1 win over Liberty. Freshman Dan Stratford came up big in the match with a goal in the last two minutes of regulation. Junior Devon McTavish also chipped in his third goal of the season against the Flames.
The Mountaineers then dropped a close 1-0 match to Virginia Tech. West Virginia appeared to have scored a goal in the second half to take the lead 1-0, however, it was called back on an offside call. The Hokies then took the lead in the 69th minute when freshman Marcus Reed beat WVU goalkeeper Nick Noble for the game winner.
The Herd comes to Morgantown after winning the UCF soccer tournament in Orlando, Fla., last weekend. The team beat host Central Florida and Florida Atlantic to claim the title.
