MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women's basketball coach Mike Carey today announced that invited walk-on Becca Cline has joined the Mountaineers for the 2004-05 season.
Cline, a 5-8 junior guard from Marcellus, Mich., played the last two seasons at Kalamazoo Valley Community College in Kalamazoo, Mich. There she averaged 11.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.5 steals per game in 34 contests. She was named a Division II third team NJCAA All-American and garnered regional player of the year honors.
A sophomore team captain, Cline was also named MVP of the Region XII tournament, named all-region XII, all-state first team and all-Western Conference. She helped guide Kalamazoo to a 25-1 record and a No. 5 national ranking last year.
"Becca is a fundamentally sound player who will see some time backing up Yolanda Paige at point guard this season," Carey says. "She will be a pleasure to coach and I'm looking forward to her being on the team this season."
Cline will have two years of eligibility remaining.
