MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Students interested in going to West Virginia University’s home opener can begin purchasing tickets online at 12:01 am Sunday, Aug. 29.
The new ticketing system is intended to put students online instead of in line. Currently enrolled and athletic-fee-paying students can request free tickets (one per student) by logging onto WVUGAME.com. Student tickets can only be secured online.
Students are reminded to pay their tuition and fees by the close of business Friday, Sept. 10, because this is the date the Office of Admissions and Records deletes course registrations. Students who have not paid their fees by this date will lose access to football games and other privileges.
Graduate assistants with tuition waivers, who would like to attend games and have full student privileges, must sign a special form with the Office of Graduate Education or the Office of Student Accounts and pay Special Fees B ($233). They may submit their payment at Student Accounts, located in the basement of Stewart Hall, or request billing.
Full-time students taking Extended Learning classes also have the option of paying a $234 fee in order to participate in athletic events and other on-campus activities – either at Student Accounts or the cashier’s office in Bennett Tower.
Students can register for tickets as follows:
Registration for each home game will begin six days prior to kickoff at midnight and remain open for two days.
Following this initial two-day registration period, students will receive e-mail confirmation with instructions on how to claim and print their tickets. For 6 cents, students who do not have printers may print their tickets at the downtown library or the computer labs at Bennett Tower and White Hall.
If tickets are still available after the claim period, students who still want to attend the game can claim leftover tickets up until kickoff on game day. Students may also purchase one guest ticket for $30 depending on availability.
Students who claim a ticket, but decide not to attend must cancel their ticket online by noon the day before kickoff to avoid losing loyalty points.
Loyalty points are accumulated by registering and attending games. These are applied toward the lottery, which kicks in when demand exceeds supply. The more points each student has, the greater chance of receiving a ticket.
On game day, students must present their tickets and valid Mountaineer (ID) Cards to gain admission to Milan Puskar Stadium. Tickets will be scanned and IDs checked at the student gate on the east side of the stadium. Students who have lost their ID cards may get new ones in room G-118 at Bennett Tower starting three hours before the game. Students may also obtain a replacement at the same location Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or at the Mountainlair Mountaineer Card Services Office weekdays between 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. There is a $20 replacement fee for lost or stolen cards, and it may be paid at any cashier’s office.
Tickets are non-transferable and can only be used by the student who originally registered for the ticket. Damaged tickets may be replaced at the student gate. However, the University is not responsible for lost tickets.
Approximately 11,000 student tickets are allotted for football home games. A limited number (100) of $10 tickets are available at the gate on game day for students with WVU regional campus ID cards.
If the lottery distribution system takes effect, tickets will not be available for regional campus students, and they are should contact the Mountaineer Ticket Office at 1-800-WVU GAME for general public tickets at regular price.
Anyone experiencing difficulty logging onto the ticketing Web site should contact the Help Desk at 304-293-4444 ext. 1 from noon until midnight Sunday, Aug. 29.
The University’s online ticketing system is endorsed by WVU’s Student Government Association. For further details about the online ticketing policy, go to http://www.wvu.edu/football_tickets/ or the FAQ page at http://www.wvu.edu/football_tickets/footballFAQ.html.
