MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Morgantown resident Scott Wilkins was the winner of this year’s “Play a Round of Golf with a Futures Tour Professional” sponsored by MSNsportsNET.com.
Wilkins will play in Wednesday’s Betty Puskar FUTURES Golf Classic Pro-Am along with three other members of the WVU Athletic Department and a Futures Tour professional.
Scott will receive brunch, dinner and special Pro-Am gifts in addition to playing in the 18-hole scramble tournament.
The Betty Puskar FUTURES Golf Classic offers an exciting week of women’s professional golf action, special events and activities, all to benefit the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center in Morgantown. Since the tournament's inception in 1992, more than $450,000 has been donated to aid in the treatment, research and educational campaigns for the women throughout the state and region.
As part of the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center at West Virginia University, the Breast Care Center is West Virginia’s most advanced facility for the early detection and successful treatment of breast cancer. This is accomplished through obtaining the most accurate screening and diagnostic results and by using treatments that minimize the impact on a woman’s body.
The Betty Puskar FUTURES Golf Classic has been and continues to be a terrific vehicle to publicize the Breast Care Center throughout the state. The Breast Care Center sees approximately 1,200 patients per month and over 14,500 in 2003. Through this tournament, funds are raised to ensure top notch treatment for these patients.
This year’s tournament begins Friday, Aug. 6, and lasts through Sunday, Aug. 8. This year’s winner will take home a winner’s check of $9,800. Seven of the past 12 Betty Puskar winners are currently playing on the LPGA Tour.
Admission is free for 54-hole event.
