Baseball: Two Earn Big East 1st Team Honors

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University pitcher Zac Cline and outfielder Lee Fritz were named to the all-Big East baseball first team announced Wednesday evening.
Cline posted an 8-3 record with a 2.65 earned run average in 12 starts. The lefthander led the conference with 10 complete games and he was second in earned run average. The Union City, Pa., native owns a 24-11 overall record at WVU and is expected to be selected in the June major league draft.
Fritz captures first team honors after batting a team-best .364 with three home runs and 28 runs batted in. The Waynesburg, Pa., resident finished the regular season ninth in the conference in batting. Both Cline and Fritz were all-Big East second team picks in 2003.
Also, junior shortstop Grant Psomas and sophomore outfielder Stan Posluszny were named to the all-Big East third team. Psomas slugged a team-best nine home runs and drove in 45 runs to go with a .343 batting average. Posluszny hit .322 with six home runs and 33 RBI.
The all-Big East squads were selected by conference coaches.
West Virginia finished the 2004 campaign with a 23-29 overall record.
