Junior shortstop Grant Psomas paces the Mountaineer offense batting .370 with four home runs and 25 RBI. Centerfielder Lee Fritz holds a .345 batting average with six doubles and five stolen bases on the year.
Seton Hall is coming off an 11-10 win against William & Mary over the weekend. The Pirates own a 7-17-1 (3-3 BIG EAST) record and are led by all-BIG EAST pitcher Chris Noonan.
The Panthers, ranked No. 2 in the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Northeast Coaches Poll, have started the season 17-6 (5-1 BIG EAST) and travel to Rutgers for a doubleheader on Thursday before coming to WVU.
Last season, the Mountaineers defeated Seton Hall, 4-3, in a single game. West Virginia split two games with Pitt during last year’s regular season.
Saturday is also “Wrist Band Day.” The first 250 youth baseball players in uniform will receive a free pair of Louisville Slugger TPX baseball wrist bands. Youth league players will be allowed to take the field with their favorite Mountaineer player for the National Anthem. A brief autograph session will take place in the Mountaineer dugout following game two of the doubleheader.
