MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia Department of Intercollegiate Athletics today unveiled Mountaineer DeskmateTM, the newest and easiest way to get up-to-date information on the Mountaineers delivered right to your computer.
Mountaineer DeskmateTM, developed by bta DIGITAL, is an application that floats on your desktop and can be repositioned or resized so it never interferes with the way you work. News, features, scores, promotions, special video-taped messages and other information is sent constantly, always keeping you up-to-date on the Mountaineers. As long as fans are connected to the Internet, they will receive information.
“It’s a way for fans to get current news and information about the Mountaineers sent directly to their desktop,” says Brad Howe, West Virginia University Director of Marketing and Sales. “This gives us an avenue to quickly inform our fans of the latest ticket specials and promotions, programming, and special events.”
In addition, the Deskmate’s dynamic screen saver brings the excitement of West Virginia University athletics right into your room, providing reminders of upcoming games, events, special offers, TV broadcasts, programs and more. WVU fans can also choose from one of several attractive wallpapers contained in the Mountaineer DeskmateTM to use as a background for your computer desktop.
“I don’t know how many other schools in the country are doing something like this,” said Howe. “This is pretty unique and cutting edge.”
Mountaineer DeskmateTM is currently available for these Windows operating systems: Windows 95/98A, 98, ME, 2000 and XP. Minimum hardware requirements are super VGA (800 x 600) or higher resolution monitor with 256 colors; Pentium 233 MHz; 64 MB RAM; 15 MB hard drive space.
Mountaineer DeskmateTM will not work on Macintosh systems and there are no cookies or spyware being sent to user's systems.
