MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s cross country team is ranked 15th in this week’s FinishLynx national cross country poll released on Monday, Nov. 15.
West Virginia jumped 13 spots in this week’s poll after posting a first place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic regional championships on Saturday, Nov. 13. WVU’s top finish was its best performance at the regional championships in school history and solidified its place as the top team in the Mid-Atlantic region.
In addition to the team’s solid performance over the weekend, assistant coach Sean Cleary was named the Mid-Atlantic regional representative to the NCAA. Cleary, who held the position for the WVU men’s squad in its last two years of existence, was appointed as the women’s representative by a vote of the region’s coaches on Friday, Nov. 12, prior to Saturday’s race.
West Virginia travels to Terre Haute, Ind., on Monday, Nov. 22, to compete in the 2004 NCAA cross country championships.
