Swimming: Men Down Louisville

Louisville, Ky. - The West Virginia University men's swimming team downed Louisville 149-88 and the women's swimming team fell 122-115 to Louisville on Friday evening.
WVU's men (3-1-0) and women (3-3-0) began the meet very strong as both won the 400 medley relays. Tina Gabrilo, Megan Carlson, Julie Warnken and Lizzy Cleary won the event in a time of 4:00. 65, while the men's relay comprised of Steven Earley, Chris Earley, Arda Kostem and Kyle Williams won in 3:28.50 minutes.
After the Cardinals won four events in a row freshman Erin Tudor got the women back on track when she captured the 50 free title in 25.09 seconds.
Tudor would start a stretch of seven-straight events that WVU would win.
Matt Drozd and Chris Hagedorn followed Tudor's lead by finishing first and second, respectively. Drozd won the race in 21.28 seconds and Hagedorn finished only .03 seconds behind him.
In the 200 IM Gabrilo took first in 2:08.29 minutes, winning the race by three seconds.
Freshman Pablo Marmolejo won the men's 200 IM by nearly three seconds as well, finishing in 1:53.59.
The Mountaineers would sweep the 200 fly events with Warnken winning in 2:11.30 minutes and Marmolejo coming out victorious in 1:51.33.
Tudor would end the stretch of seven straight WVU wins by taking first in the 100 free in 53.80 seconds.
Warnken and Ashley Bissett would finish one-two in the 200 back, Warnken in 2:11.35 and Bissett in 2:13.75.
In women's diving Jennifer Nyce took second in both the one and three meter boards. Nyce scored a 153.95 on the one meter and a 235.20 on the three meter.
Both teams return to action today at 2 p.m. when they face Western Kentucky in Bowling Green, Ky.
