MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University men's soccer team tied Rutgers 0-0 on Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
The two teams played very even throughout the match with the Mountaineers (9-6-1) and Scarlet Knights (6-8-4) fending off all of each others opportunities.
Geoff Cameron fired off five shots at the Rutgers defense while Dan Stratford got off four. Scarlet Knights Nick Labrocca and Gustavo Mora each took three shots on the night.
Sophomore Nick Noble had a stellar evening in goal, recording eight saves including numerous diving stops. Rutgers' goalkeeper George Vasilakis also played very well as he stopped nine Mountaineer shots.
The tie moves WVU into sole possession of fourth-place in the BIG EAST for now. A UConn loss or tie to Providence on Wednesday, Nov. 3, would secure the Mountaineers first home BIG EAST tournament match since 1999.
The Mountaineers close out their regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 2, when they host Delaware at 5 p.m. at the Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
