Volleyball: WVU Hosts Final BIG EAST Home Matches

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team hosts its final BIG EAST matches of the 2004 season on Friday, Oct. 29, and Sunday, Oct. 31, at the WVU Coliseum.
On Friday, West Virginia (15-9, 2-2) battles Connecticut (14-6, 4-0) at 7:30 p.m. The Huskies, like WVU, dropped their first three games of the season before bouncing back in dramatic fashion.
They have won 14 of their last 17 matches and currently boast a seven match win streak. Connecticut’s BIG EAST wins have come over Villanova (3-1), Georgetown (3-0), Seton Hall (3-0) and Rutgers (3-0).
WVU welcomes Boston College (17-8, 3-1) to the Coliseum on Sunday for 1 p.m. contest. The Eagles come into Sunday’s match having won 10 of their last 11 contests.
BC owns BIG EAST victories over Georgetown (3-2), Villanova (3-2) and Rutgers (3-2). Their lone conference loss came last Sunday at the hands of Seton Hall by a score of 3-1.
West Virginia is currently ranked sixth in the BIG EAST ahead of Rutgers, Georgetown, Villanova, Seton Hall and St. John’s. The top four teams at the end of the season advance to the BIG EAST tournament on Nov. 20-21 at Fitzgerald Field House in Pittsburgh.
