MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University’s women’s basketball's 2004-05 recruiting class has been ranked the nation’s 17th-best by All-Star Girl’s Report, the nation’s lead scouting service.
It marks the third consecutive year that West Virginia’s recruiting class has been ranked. Last year, WVU’s class of Meg Bulger and Yelena Leuchanka was ranked fourth-best by All-Star for a class of two or less. Two year’s ago, coach Mike Carey and his staff had the 16th-best class.
“This is probably the best class they have ever had,” All-Star Girls Report scouting director Bret McCormick said. “West Virginia helped itself at almost every position.”
The Mountaineers’ class marks the third best in the BIG EAST. Connecticut posted the fourth-best class followed by Rutgers at No. 5. Notre Dame is has the 19th-best class followed by Boston College at No. 24, Syracuse at No. 42 and St. John’s at No. 47.
The Mountaineers return to the court Wednesday night to face Georgetown in a key Big East matchup at the WVU Coliseum. The contest will get underway at 7 pm.
