Women's Soccer: Recruiting Class Ranked

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Out of 299 Division I women's soccer programs, the West Virginia University women's soccer team has the 18th-best recruiting class in the country for 2003 according to SoccerBuzz.
West Virginia's top 25 ranking is the first in program history. Last season, Mountaineer newcomers were ranked 35th and they were 26th and 49th, respectively in 2001 and 2000.
WVU was one of three BIG EAST schools ranked in the top 25: Notre Dame (fifth) and Connecticut (20th).
This season, head coach Nikki Izzo-Brown has seven highly talented recruits heading to West Virginia. They are: Cathy Abel (Flemington, N.J.), Leigh Anthony (Fairfax, Va.), Lana Bannerman (Naperville, Ill.), Nicole Cauzilllo (Northville, Mich.), Natalie Cocchi (Ocean Township, N.J.), Christina Monzi (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Jackie Picard (Lorton, Va.).
The Mountaineers open their season on August 30, at Virginia.
