Track: Team Set For BIG EAST Championships

MORGANTOWN, W.Va - The West Virginia University track team travels to the BIG EAST Championships this weekend, in Syracuse, N.Y., in the Carrier Dome. Competition will begin on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 8:30 a.m., and Sunday, Feb. 23, at 10:25 a.m.
Mountaineers boasting top rankings in the BIG EAST include Marc Kellman (#2 in triple jump and #4 in long jump), Justin Willyoung (#2 in high jump), William White (#1 in 60 meter dash), Christine Brown (#2 in triple jump and #3 in long jump), Ciara Chic (#4 in 60 meters), Jenifer Hall (#3 in pole vault) and Megan Metcalfe (#3 in the mile and #3 in the 3,000 meters).
Returning BIG EAST champions include Metcalfe in the 3,000 meters and the women's distance medley relay, which has a #1 ranking going into this weekend's competition.
The meet will be broadcast live on the official BIG EAST website, www.bigeast.org.
"The goal of track and field is to continuously improve and we are looking to improve on last year's performances at BIG EAST," says coach Jeff Huntoon. "We're a well-balanced team going into this weekend's meet and look forward to some great performances."
The Mountaineers will return to action Saturday, March 1, at the Last Chance Qualifier in Blacksburg, Va.
