Wrestling: Three Earn Seeds For Midlands

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Three West Virginia University wrestlers earned pre-tournament seeds for The Midlands Tournament announced Ken Kraft, tournament director for the Midlands Wrestling Championships.
WVU grapplers earning seeds for the 41st tournament, which will be held Dec. 29-30 at Welsh-Ryan Arena, include Matt Lebe (157), Greg Jones (184) and Brent Miller (HWT).
Lebe has been West Virginia’s most productive wrestler this season. The sophomore leads WVU in victories with a 14-2 record and is seeded eighth. Leading the way in this young weight class is veteran Chris Bono of Sunkist Kids Wrestling Club, a three-time champion and 31 Midlands match winner.
Jones, who has yet to see action this season, secures the No. 1 seed at 184-pounds. Challenging the WVU junior will be high-seeds Ben Heizer (Northern Illinois), Brian Glynn (Illinois), Blake Kaplan (Ohio State) and Kurt Backes (Iowa State).
Miller comes in ranked ninth at heavyweight. A two-time NCAA qualifier, Miller faces perhaps the toughest of competition with the top-two ranked collegians, Tommy Rowlands (Ohio State) and Pat Cummins (Penn State) leading the weight class.
The pre-tournament seeds for the 157, 184 and 285-pound weight classes are as follows:
