Women's Soccer: Abbott Player of Year Finalist

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University senior women's soccer forward, Chrissie Abbott has been selected one of 12 SoccerBuzz finalists for 2003 player of the year.
A North Olmsted, Ohio, native, this is the second straight year that Abbott has been selected a finalist for the season-ending award.
Abbott leads the Mountaineers with 13 goals and a career-high eight assists for 34 points. This year she became WVU's all-time goals scored leader and its career points leader as well. To date, the secondary education/math major has 53 goals and 125 points in her career.
She is joined on the list by Lori Calupny (North Carolina), Keeley Dowling (Tennessee), Kelly Hammond (Virginia), Lindsay Huie (Portland), Johanna Lohman (Penn State), Nandi Prcye (UCLA), Catherine Reddick (North Carolina), Aleisha Rose (BYU), Caroline Smith (Kansas), Melissa Tancredi (Notre Dame) and Lindsay Tarpley (North Carolina).
Abbott is also a semifinalist for the 2003 Hermann Trophy, soccer's version of the Heisman.
The SoccerBuzz player of the year will be announced in December following voting by all Division I coaches and memberS of the SoccerBuzz staff.
Abbott and the rest of the Mountaineers take on Florida State in a Sweet 16 match-up on Sunday, Nov. 23, at the Mountaineer Soccer Complex. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., and tickets can be purchased in advance at the WVU Ticket Office or at the gate on Sunday. Prices are $7 for adults and $5 for children and students with valid ID's.
