West Virginia game captains were Grant Wiley, Quincy Wilson, Geoff Lewis and Fred Blueford. Coach Rich Rodriguez selects game captains each week. Team captains will be elected at the end of the season.
There were no first-time starters for WVU against UCF. A total of 36 Mountaineers have at least one game of starting experience. Tops on that list are Grant Wiley (39), Lance Frazier (32) and Brian King (30).
West Virginia got on the scoreboard first with a 24-yard field goal by Brad Cooper. The Mountaineers have now scored first in each of their last four contests.
Quincy Wilson's 46-yard run in the second quarter was a season long. His previous best was a 41-yard run against East Carolina earlier in the season.
Rasheed Marshall's one-yard rushing touchdown was his second rushing touchdown of the season and 18th of his career. His 18 career rushing touchdowns now ranks him eighth all-time in school history.
West Virginia's safety recorded against UCF in the second quarter was the Mountaineers' first defensive points of the season.
The last time the Mountaineers scored a safety was against Temple in 2002.
Quincy Wilson went over 100 yards rushing for the third consecutive game and fourth of the season. He now moves into a tie for ninth-place all-time in career 100-yard rushing games with eight.
Wilson's three consecutive 100 yards or more rushing in a game marks the 18th time a Mountaineer has rushed for 100 yards or more in three consecutive games. It marks the first time in Wilson's career that he has done so. He becomes only the 12th different Mountaineer in school history to rush for 100 yards in three consecutive games.
Wilson's 490 combined yards rushing in his last three games are the eighth-best performance in Mountaineer rushing history for three consecutive games.
Brian King's interception in the third quarter was his third interception of the season, all coming in the last two games. It is the seventh interception of his career. King now leads the Mountaineers in interceptions.
Travis Garvin's eight-yard rushing touchdown was the first rushing touchdown of his career.
Jerry White's punt block and touchdown recovery by Joe Hunter was the first time that has happened at WVU since Fred Smalls blocked a punt, which led to a Cam Zopp touchdown recovery against Louisville in 1984.
Charles Hales' 79-yard touchdown pass to Chris Henry was Henry's fifth receiving touchdown of the season. The touchdown pass was Hales' first touchdown pass of his Mountaineer career. It marked the fourth straight game a Mountaineer quarterback has completed a pass of at least 79 yards.
Henry's 123 yards receiving marks the third consecutive game a WVU receiver has 100 yards or more receiving in a game. Henry has gone over 100 yards now twice in his career and twice in his last three games. It was also the second longest touchdown reception of his career. His longest was an 83-yard score earlier this season against Rutgers.
Jason Colson's 28 yard rush in the fourth quarter was the longest of his career.
Brad Cooper's 43 yard field goal in the fourth quarter was the longest of his career.
Ernest Hunter's fourth quarter fumble recovery was his second this season and second of his career.
Erick Phillips' 11-yard rush in the fourth quarter was the longest of his career.
WVU's win over UCF marked the 100th victory for the Mountaineers at new Mountaineer Field. The Mountaineers are now 100-44-4 (.689) all-time in the facility that opened in 1980.
West Virginia has now won 19 games in a row when scoring 30 or more points in a game. Dating back to 1980, WVU holds a 98-6-1 record when scoring 30 or more.
