MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The No. 7 West Virginia University women's soccer team (13-2-1, 3-1-1) looks to build on its 17-match regular season home win streak as it closes out the regular season with two key matches at the Mountaineer Soccer Complex this Thursday and Sunday.
The Mountaineers will play host to BIG EAST rival Pitt (5-8-2, 1-2-1) on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. A win over the Panthers will secure a second place mid-Atlantic division finish for West Virginia. It will also clinch home-field advantage for the quarterfinal round of the BIG EAST tournament.
At 1 p.m., on Sunday, Oct. 26, WVU will face No.5 Penn State (10-2-2) in a pivotal regional match-up that could have implications on seeding and home-field selection for the NCAA tournament.
Pitt enters Friday's contest having lost its last match 1-0 to mid-Atlantic division leader Notre Dame. Erin Hills and Cara Senger pace the Panthers. Each has 10 points on the season.
Penn State will play at Ohio State on Friday, Oct. 24 before traveling Morgantown on Sunday. The Nittany Lions recently clinched the Big Ten title for the sixth-straight season.
