Football: McCallister Named Strength Aide

Morgantown, W.VA. – John McCallister has been named assistant strength coach for West Virginia University athletics, working for Coach Doug Elias.
Formerly a graduate assistant in the Mountaineer strength and conditioning program, McCallister first started working as a student volunteer in the weight room in 1998.
A native of Ona, W.Va., McCallister earned first team all-state honors in baseball at Cabell Midland High. McCallister is a 2000 graduate of West Virginia University with a degree in athletic coaching education. He completed his master’s degree at WVU in the same field this summer.
Former Mountaineer defensive back Gary Thompkins will fill the vacant graduate assistant position in the weight room.
