Swimming and Diving: WVU Falls to Rutgers

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University swimming and diving men's and women's teams both lost to conference foe Rutgers on Saturday afternoon at the WVU Natatorium.
The Mountaineer women (3-2) dropped a 188-107 decision to the Scarlet Knights while the men's squad (2-2) lost by a 170-122 count.
Freshman Megan Carlson picked up her first collegiate victory with a 1:08.99 in the 100 breaststroke event. Fellow freshman Jackie Graulty also notched her first collegiate victory after posting a 1:01.26 in the 100 butterfly.
Sophomore diver Kristen Moffatt placed second on the three-meter boards and third on the one-meter boards.
For the WVU men, sophomore Pedro Pinto placed first in the 100 and 200 butterfly events while sophomore Thomas Fletcher swam a 4:45.65 to earn a first-place finish in the 500 freestyle.
Sophomore Ryan Faught had a strong day on the diving boards, placing first on both the one and three-meter boards with scores of 243.75 and 218.70.
The Mountaineers return to action on Friday, November 8, at 5:30 p.m., to face Ohio State and Louisville, at the WVU Natatorium.
