Pat Shelby joined Mountaineer athletics in December 2021 as the department’s assistant director of strength and conditioning for Olympic sports.
He is responsible for the strength and conditioning needs for women’s soccer and men’s and women’s swimming and diving.
Shelby comes to WVU from the University of Wyoming where he served as assistant director of sports performance, working directly with men’s and women’s swimming and diving, cross country, men’s golf and tennis. He also coordinated the Cowboys’ internship program and assisted in the implementation of sports science date within Olympic sports.
During his tenure as assistant sports performance coach, he assisted in the design process of Wyoming’s new sports performance training facility.
Shelby is a 2014 graduate of WVU with a degree in exercise physiology and he earned a master’s degree in industrial technology from Wyoming in 2019.
Originally from Fairfax, Virginia, he resides in Morgantown.
