Zach Seger has been of a member of West Virginia’s Student-Athlete Academic Services staff, working with the Mountaineer football program since 2016.
Seger oversees academic support for all 18 varsity sports, leading a team of 13 advisors and learning specialists across two academic centers: the Coliseum Academic Performance Center and the Reynolds Family Academic Center.
His oversight includes the academic support and guidance to football student-athletes, to help them succeed in the classroom, maintain eligibility and ultimately help them earn their degree.
He works closely with coaches, athletics staff, and campus partners to ensure our student-athletes thrive academically and remain eligible under NCAA and Big 12 guidelines.
He also engages directly in the recruiting process, meeting with prospective student-athletes and their families during official visit weekends and junior day events to highlight the academic resources and support available at WVU.
He started as an assistant academic coordinator for football before becoming an academic counselor in 2017. In 2019, Seger was promoted to assistant director for student-athlete academic service and to associate director of student-athlete academic services in 2022.
Prior to being named assistant director, Seger was responsible for coordinating all tutoring and textbook distribution at the Reynolds Family Academic Center. He organized and implemented academic programs that ensures their growth in the classroom, in the community and on an individual level.
The Windber, Pennsylvania, native graduated cum laude from West Virginia University in 2014 with a degree in sport management. He earned his master’s degree in Higher Education Management from Pitt in 2016.
