Ryan Schmitt joined the WVU Athletics Department staff in May 2022 as assistant equipment manager. He is now the assistant director of Olympic sports equipment operations.
A native of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Schmitt assists in the equipment disbursement for all Mountaineer sports teams, with the exception of football, basketball programs, and baseball. Additionally, he assists with embroidering and screen printing of all athletic apparel as well as cataloging all Nike orders.
Schmitt previously worked as a student equipment manager for the Mountaineer football program and most recently was a graduate assistant equipment manager for Olympic sports.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from WVU in multidisciplinary studies, with minors in journalism, political science and business, in May 2021. He also earned his master’s degree in sport management from WVU in 2022.
He resides in Morgantown
