Lyndsey Eckenrode joined the West Virginia University intercollegiate athletics staff in July 2022 as an assistant director of sports nutrition for Olympic sports.
In this role, she is responsible for assisting in the nutritional needs for Olympic Sport athletes, including clinical or performance-based one-on-one counseling, menu planning, eating disorder treatment, utilization of practice and competition fueling, and development and implementation of team-specific nutrition educations that encompass performance nutrition strategies, grocery store tours, and cooking classes.
Her individual sport responsibilities include: women’s soccer, women’s basketball, women’s rowing, women’s tennis, men’s golf, gymnastics, men’s and women’s swimming & diving.
Most recently, Eckenrode was a graduate performance nutrition intern at Ohio State where she served as the nutrition manager for women’s basketball while assisting with men’s basketball and ice hockey. She also has sports nutrition experience working for Ole Miss baseball and football as an undergraduate student as well as experience working at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas.
The Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, native, earned her undergraduate degree in nutrition at Ole Miss and completed her master’s degree in health and rehabilitation sciences at Ohio State, where she fulfilled her dietetic internship requirement.
She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, College and Professional Sports Dietitians Association and Diversify Dietetics. She is a registered dietitian certified by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and is also certified in first aid and CPR and AED through the American Heart Association.
Eckenrode resides in Morgantown.
