David Marshall joined West Virginia University Athletics as an academic counselor in October 2025. In June 2026, Marshall became one of the academic counselors for the football program after working with golf and wrestling.

Marshall served as a learning specialist at Towson University, working primarily with the football, basketball and swimming and diving programs. In this role, Marshall monitored student-athlete eligibility, developed education plans and scheduled classes with student-athletes.

Before his time at Towson, Marshall was the student-athlete success coordinator at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. He also worked within the Culpeper County Public Schools system as a SPED teacher at Eastern View High School.

Marshall earned a B.S. in early childhood education from Saint Vincent College and earned an M.S. in sport management from Pennsylvania Western University in California, Pa.
