Audrey Fischer joined West Virginia University Athletics as a Sports Nutrition Fellow for Olympic Sports in August 2021.
Working under the Director of Sports Nutrition, LaReine Schock-Leonard, Fischer primarily works with women’s soccer, women’s tennis, track and field, men’s and women’s swimming and diving and rifle. She tends to the athletes’ clinical and performance-based nutritional needs through team educations, one-on-one counseling sessions, cooking demonstrations, grocery store tours, and competition fueling and recovery. Fischer also manages outside food service orders and oversees the Olympic Sports Nutrition Instagram page, @wvufuel.
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Fischer came to West Virginia after graduating from the University of Mississippi in 2021 with a master’s degree in food and nutrition services.
Fischer served as a sports nutrition graduate assistant for Ole Miss in 2020 where she managed the procurement, storage, and utilization of all sports nutrition goods while overseeing five fueling stations. She also completed the Coordinated Program in Dietetics with a sports emphasis while serving as an intern in the Ole Miss sports nutrition program.
She had a similar role at North Dakota State where she assisted in team educations, individual counseling sessions, cooking demonstrations, fueling station management, and Instagram postings.
Fischer received a bachelor’s degree in Dietetics and Nutrition in 2019 while competing on the Ole Miss volleyball team where she was an SEC honor roll student all four years there. She volunteered weekly for Ole Miss sports nutrition, assisting in the management of fueling stations, development of educational resources, and professional development.
Fischer is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and holds professional affiliations with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Collegiate and Professional Sports Dietitians Association.
She resides in Morgantown.
