Gabrielle Lathrop joined the WVU Athletic Department in May 2019 as an assistant director for student-athlete development. She handles the day-to-day academic services for men's basketball, men's soccer and gymnastics.
Lathrop previously served as an academic coach at Niagara where she worked with men’s and women’s basketball since 2015.
While at Niagara she created programs to help improve student-athlete life skills, supervised peer tutor and writing center staff members and also met weekly with Niagara’s at risk student-athletes.
Prior to Niagara, she spent one year at Ohio University in 2014 as the Bobcats’ NCAA eligibility and student-athlete success learning specialist
The D’Youville College graduate worked one year at Canisius as an academic support services graduate assistant in 2014 while earning her master’s degree in sport administration.
A native of Clarence, New York, Lathrop received her bachelor’s degree in exercise science and sport studies while being a member of the 2011 Spartan softball team that won the conference championship and participated in the Division III NCAA Tournament.
She resides in Morgantown.
