Stephanie White was elevated to Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Development in September 2016, after serving in various positions within Academic Services since February 2008.
In her current role, White has administrative responsibility for the Coliseum Academic Performance Center, serving over 350 Olympic sport student-athletes across 17 teams. She supervises and has helped create and implement the Office of Student-Athlete Enhancement, which includes NCAA Life Skills, community service, SAAC, summer bridge and a freshman seminar course.Â
White and her team have developed and implemented a program for learning evaluation and support for at-risk student-athletes. This team not only includes the full-time and part-time learning specialists, but also student-athlete tutoring program.
In addition to her supervisory duties, she is responsible for the day-to-day academic services for the men’s basketball, volleyball and golf programs. White has also advised the women’s basketball, women’s soccer and men’s soccer teams throughout her time at WVU.
White assists student-athletes in their respective plan of study through coordinating class schedules, offering regularly scheduled advising meetings, arranging for tutors and monitoring study time. With the ultimate goal of graduation for each student-athlete, she remains familiar with NCAA rules relating to continuing eligibility. Her advising duties also include meeting with prospective student-athletes, and helping incoming student-athletes with admission, class registration and initial eligibility requirements.

Prior to WVU, White was a full-time teacher at the Mason County Career Center in Point Pleasant, W.Va., from January 2004-June 2007. She also has experience with WVU as a graduate teaching assistant, student athlete mentor and temporary educational counselor.Â

White earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from West Virginia in 2002 and a master’s degree in secondary education from WVU in 2003.
A member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals and Women Leaders in College Sports, White attended the Institute for Leadership Enhancement in 2020.
White and her husband Jason have one daughter, Aubrey.
