Career Preparation
In the report “From Academia to the Workforce,” from the Association of Public & Land-Grant Universities, there were 11 skills identified as critical growth areas for students graduating and entering the workforce.
The information above shows that there is still a gap between all surveyed participants in these areas, which allows us to prepare our student-athletes with these necessary skills. Through Chambers Elite Climbers, we focus on leadership development and provide our student-athletes with the necessary skills to thrive in leadership roles. Additionally, we provide workshops that help educate our student-athletes in the areas identified in the report.
At the same time, some skills are better taught in the classroom setting. The graphic below (Activities to Build Employability Skills) indicates that there are eight activities to build employability skills. By tapping into activities 1-5 (Work, Internship, Career Organization, Volunteerism, Research), we help close the gap in employability after graduation.
