Day One Complete of New York Harbor Cup

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University golf team played the first 36 holes of the 2026-27 season on Monday at the New York Harbor Cup at Bayonne Golf Club in Bayonne, New Jersey.
Juniors Aidan Dortch and Ryan Leach paced the Mountaineers after one day of competition on the par-71 course, sitting in 24th place at 2-over-par. Dortch shot rounds of 69-75, while Leach posted rounds of 70-74. Fellow junior Nick Turowski is one stroke behind them in 29th place with rounds of 71-74.
Sophomore Jack Michael shot 74-73 and is +5 in 39th place. Freshman Michael Shivers competed in his first round as a Mountaineer and shot rounds of 82-77. Sophomore Gabe Schmitz competed as an individual and is +5 with rounds of 72-75.
After two rounds, the Mountaineers are in eighth place at +12. The third and final round will begin Tuesday morning at 8:15 a.m.
