MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – No. 12-seeded West Virginia went undefeated against No. 5-seeded TCU to win the first match of the Big 12 Match Play Championship, 4-1, at The Country Club in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Monday.

Jack Michael started the day off for the Mountaineers, winning seven holes and downing Charlie Wylie of TCU, 4&3. Not long after, Gabe Schmitz won six holes and defeated Cameron Kucher, 4&2.

Nick Turowski won his final hole over Toby Wilt to win 1UP. Aidan Dortch won his second to last hole to tie Nathan Miller, and Ryan Leach captured his last hole to tie his match against Sam Udovich.

WVU will now square off against No. 4-seeded Kansas in the afternoon session on Monday.
