Agreement Expands Baseball Athlete Performance Optimization Opportunities
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Gold & Blue Enterprises (GBE), in partnership with West Virginia University (WVU) Athletics and the WVU Office of Innovation and Commercialization (OIC), today announced a new commercialization agreement with BioPrecision LLC, a sports performance and biomechanics company, which is an affiliate of Morgantown-based Civil-Military Innovation Institute, Inc. (CMI2).
The arrangement establishes BioPrecision as a commercial partner for advanced biomechanics, performance analysis and athlete optimization services, creating new opportunities for high school, collegiate and professional athletes to access world-class technology and expertise developed in collaboration with West Virginia University.
As part of the partnership, BioPrecision is making significant infrastructure investments to enhance the facility, including donations of upgraded hitting biomechanics and pitching biomechanics systems, with additional future technology investments planned.
Through this agreement, BioPrecision will lease and operate within WVU's Baseball Biomechanics & Performance Center during hours when the facility is not in use by WVU Athletics, enabling expanded access while preserving WVU's exclusive athletic priorities. Through the WVU OIC, BioPrecision has also licensed select technologies developed by WVU's Dr. Courtney Semkewyc through her joint appointments with WVU Baseball and the WVU School of Sports Sciences, as a part of the WVU College of Applied Human Sciences, supporting continued research translation and innovation.
"This agreement reflects exactly what Gold & Blue Enterprises was created to do — responsibly commercialize WVU excellence in ways that benefit our student-athletes, our partners and the broader community," Don Robinson, CEO of Gold & Blue Enterprises said. "By partnering with BioPrecision, we are expanding access to elite-level performance tools while reinvesting in WVU Athletics and advancing innovation born right here in Morgantown. Additionally, this is an example of one of the ways we will maximize our facilities outside of usage by WVU Athletics to drive new sources of revenue."
The collaboration positions WVU as a national hub for applied sports science, while creating a direct pathway for external athletes — from youth competitors to elite high school prospects and from collegiate athletes to professional players — to engage with world-class caliber of biomechanics analysis and expertise.
"This partnership exemplifies how university-developed research and capabilities can be translated into real-world impact," Erienne Olesh, executive director of the WVU OIC said.
Ryan Watson, executive director of Intellectual Property and Licensing added, "Licensing WVU technologies to BioPrecision allows us to extend the reach of our innovations, support continued research, and strengthen West Virginia's growing sports technology ecosystem."
WVU Baseball Coach Steve Sabins emphasized the strategic value of the partnership for the program and the sport.
"Biomechanics and data-driven performance are essential to modern baseball development," Sabins said. "The enhancements BioPrecision is bringing to our facility elevate our already strong foundation at the BPC. These new investments will upgrade what we can do for our players every day, while also positioning WVU as a destination for serious athletes who want to train using cutting-edge methods."
BioPrecision specializes in biomechanics analysis, movement optimization and applied performance science, drawing on decades of experience across human performance optimization environments in defense, athletics and other applications.
"Our mission at BioPrecision is to help athletes understand how their bodies truly move — and how to move better, safe, and more efficiently," Dr. Zenovy Wowczuk, CEO of BioPrecision LLC said. "Partnering with WVU, Gold & Blue Enterprises, and the OIC allows us to scale that mission, invest back into the facility, grow additional jobs in West Virginia, and offer athletes at every level access to world-class biomechanics and performance insights."
The partnership is expected to serve as a foundation for future growth, including expanded services, additional technology investments, and broader engagement with athletes, teams and organizations nationwide.
