MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's tennis team lost to Kansas State, 4-2, on Sunday at Summit Tennis Academy in Morgantown.
West Virginia (6-9, 0-4 Big 12) earned the doubles point following superb play from the pairing of senior
Michaela Kucharova and freshman
Laura Villanueva Morillo in the No. 2 seed match as they won, 6-2. The Mountaineers locked up the point as senior
Mille Haagensen and graduate student
Julie Bousseau won in the No. 1 spot, 6-4.
In singles play, Kansas State took the first two matches to lead, 2-1. However, West Virginia picked up a much-needed win from Haagensen in the No. 1 spot to tie the match, 2-2.
Kansas State won the next two singles matches to seal the win.
