MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's tennis team travels to Arizona to face the No. 30 Arizona State Sun Devils and the No. 31 Arizona Wildcats this weekend.
West Virginia (6-9, 0-4 Big 12) takes on ASU at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, March 14, in Tempe, Arizona, and Arizona at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, in Tucson, Ariz.
In its last outing, the Mountaineers lost to then-No. 33 Oklahoma State and Kansas State in its first home Big 12 action.
In the loss to the Wildcats, senior
Mille Haagensen was the lone Mountaineer to win in singles play. She defeated Kansas State's Zhanel Rustemova, 7-5, 6-4, in the No. 1 seed match.
Despite the losses, a new doubles pairing between senior
Michaela Kucharova and freshman
Laura Villanueva Morillo proved its worth. The pair won in the No. 2 spot against Kansas State, 6-2, and its match against the Cowgirls went unfinished at 5-5.
This will be West Virginia's first meeting with the Sun Devils and Wildcats. Arizona currently sits fourth in the Big 12 Conference standings. Arizona State is fifth.
