
Rifle Back On Road For Three Matches Against Top 10 Opponents

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 3-ranked West Virginia University rifle team (6-0, 1-0 GARC) is set for three matches this weekend on the road.
The Mountaineers open the slate on Saturday against No. 4 TCU inside the X-Count Club in Fort Wayne, Indiana, before closing out the trip on Sunday against No. 12 UTEP and No. 10 Murray State inside Converse Hall in Columbus, Ohio. Both matches are scheduled to start at 9 a.m. ET.
West Virginia is 10-3 all-time against TCU, as the pair both met last season to the tune of a 4731-4725 result for the Mountaineers. WVU is a perfect 8-0 all-time against UTEP and 27-3 against Murray State. West Virginia and UTEP last met during the 2022-23 season when the Mountaineers won 4715-4568, as WVU and Murray State met earlier in the season to a 4744-4706 win.
The Mountaineers have won 32 straight regular-season matches, dating back to the beginning of the 2024-25 season.
WVU's 2394 in air rifle earlier this season tied the all-time NCAA mark and set a new program record. The Mountaineers' 2385.2 average in air rifle is second in the nation. The squads' aggregate average of 4738.5 is third and the 2353.2 in smallbore also sits third.
Griffin Lake is leading the nation in scoring average in air rifle so far this season with a 599. He averages a 1190.3 aggregate mark with averages of 591.3 in smallbore. The scores are the third and fifth best in the country.
