
Mountaineers Hold No. 1 Regional Ranking, Rise to No. 7 Nationally

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University cross country team remained atop the Mid-Atlantic Region and climbed two spots to No. 7 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings.
WVU receives the ranking after a fourth place finish at the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational. Sophomore Joy Naukot led the way with a tenth place finish. Redshirt sophomore Mercy Kinyanjui followed in 17th, while redshirt senior Emily Bryce placed 22nd to give WVU three finishers inside the top 25.
The Mountaineers will now turn their attention to the postseason, beginning with the Big 12 Championships on Friday, Oct. 31 in Lawerance, Kan.
