Lake Makes Smallbore Final at USA Rifle National Championship

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Four Mountaineers from the WVU rifle program wrapped up competition in their first discipline at the 2024 USA Rifle National Championship on Thursday. Griffin Lake highlighted the event, taking fifth place overall during Thursday's open final of the smallbore championship.
Lake qualified for both the open and junior finals in men's smallbore. He qualified fifth place overall with an 1164 (579-585). In the junior final he finished in third place with a 434.2 before closing out his action in fifth place in the open final. He scored 423.6 during the open final.
Jacob Wisman qualified in 17th place overall and in sixth of the junior standings, in men's smallbore, to punch his ticket to the junior finals with a mark of 1140 (569 - 571). He finished second in the U18 junior category with a final score of 386.9.
Camryn Camp finished in 21st place in women's air rifle with a 1243.6 (617.2 - 626.4). Ashlyn Blake also competed in the event, collecting a 23rd-place finish at 1240.7 (615.0 - 625.7).
Competition at the event will continue on Friday with athletes switching disciplines. The junior final is set for Saturday and the open final closes out the event on Sunday.
