
Mountaineers Tabbed No. 28 in USTFCCCA Coaches Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University cross country team was picked No. 28 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association's Coaches Poll, as announced by the organization on Tuesday evening.
The Mountaineers enter the poll after receiving votes during the first three weeks of the season.
West Virginia's No. 28 ranking is the highest since Sept. 13, 2022, when the Mountaineers were tabbed at No. 25.
WVU picks up the ranking after a stellar performance at the Live in Lou Classic on Oct. 5. The Mountaineers claimed victory at the meet, with a team score of 36 points.
Senior Ceili McCabe recorded a meet record and personal best time in the women's 5k of 16:06.00, winning the Live in Lou Classic.
Additionally, freshman Joy Naukot claimed fourth place in her collegiate debut, with a time of 16:25.9. Graduate student Madison Trippett rounded out the top 10 for the Mountaineers, placing eighth with a time of 16:58.3.
West Virginia returns to action on Oct. 12 for the Carnegie Mellon Invitational. Saturday's race will be held at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at 10:45 a.m. ET.
