Tucker Named Student-Athlete of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Graduate student Tevin Tucker of the West Virginia University baseball team has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week presented by University Apartments after a standout week against Penn State and No. 18 Oklahoma State.
Tucker hit .625 (10-for-16) in four games this week with two doubles and eight runs scored. He had at least three hits in three games and scored at least one run in all four contests.
He started the week with a three-hit performance against the Nittany lions with a double and one run scored. In the series opener on the road at OSU, Tucker scored two runs and made a game-saving defensive play in the eighth inning to keep the Mountaineers in front.
On Saturday, he went 3-for-3 with three runs scored in WVU's 9-5 win over the Cowboys to clinch the Big 12 series victory. He then closed out the week with four hits on Sunday while scoring two runs and stealing a base.
The Prince George, Virginia, native is having a career year this season, as he is hitting .355 with five doubles, three triples, a home run, 16 RBI, 33 runs scored and 13 stolen bases.
This Week in Baseball: The Mountaineers play four games this week, beginning with the Backyard Brawl against Pitt at PNC Park on Wednesday, April 19, at 6 p.m. … WVU will jump back into Big 12 play this weekend at Wagener Field at Monongalia County Ballpark with three games against TCU … First pitch against the Horned Frogs on Friday, April 21, is set for 6:30 p.m., Saturday, April 22, for 4 p.m. and Sunday, April 23, at 1 p.m.
