Box Score MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team (11-9, 1-6 Big 12) sufferd a 7-0 loss No. 35 Texas Tech (14-8, 4-4 Big 12) on Friday evening in Morgantown.
The match at the Mountaineer Tennis Courts began with doubles play. In the No. 3 slot, sophomore
Tatiana Lipatova and redshirt freshman
Maja Dodik fell to Texas Tech's Kate Dmitrichenko and Camryn Stepp, 6-2, giving the Lady Raiders the advantage.
The Mountaineers dropped the doubles point when sophomore/senior pair
Camilla Bossi and
Ting-Pei Chang fell, 6-3, to No. 36 Avelina Sayfetdinova and Metka Komac, leaving sophomore
Michaela Kucharova and junior
Momoko Nagato unfinished at No. 2 doubles, 5-4.
Moving on to singles play, in the No. 2 slot, Chang fell to No. 122 Sayfetdinova, 6-0, 6-2. Next up, Bossi fell to Olivia Peet, 6-3, 6-0, before Dodik fell, 6-0, 6-4, to Komac to secure the match for the Lady Raiders.
At No. 6 singles, Lipatova fell to Andreea Lila, 6-3, 6-2.
With two matches left, Nagato fell in two straight sets, 7-5, 6-2, to Dmitrichenko, before Kucharova suffered a loss to Cristina Tiglea, 7-6(5), 7-5.
