
West Virginia Honors Hsieh, Welcomes No. 35 Texas Tech and No. 50 TCU

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.– The West Virginia University tennis team (11-8, 1-5 Big 12) wraps up its regular season play at home against No. 35 Texas Tech on Friday, April 14, and No. 50 TCU on Sunday, April 16, at the Mountaineer Tennis Courts. WVU will honor fifth-year senior Pei-Ju Hsieh following Sunday's match.
"We are excited about our last weekend of competition at home. It's a big weekend for our program as we celebrate our senior, Penny," said coach Miha Lisac.
"Penny has been an amazing leader for our program. Her impact on our program and our team culture will be felt for years to come."
First serve against the Lady Raiders on Friday is set for 5 p.m. ET, while competition on Sunday against the Horned Frogs will begin at 12 p.m. A link to follow both matches can be found here.
First up against Texas Tech, this week's competition marks the 10th matchup between the two schools since the series began in 2013. In the last meeting during the 2021-22 campaign, the Lady Raiders defeated West Virginia, 4-0, at the McLeod Tennis Center, in Lubbock, Texas.
Texas Tech (13-8, 3-4 Big 12) enters Friday's matchup after suffering a loss to TCU on April 7.
Sunday's competition against TCU marks the 11th in program history with the Horned Frogs leading the all-time series, 10-0, over WVU. During last year's competition, TCU defeated the Mountaineers, 4-2, in Fort Worth, Texas.
TCU comes to Morgantown after facing Iowa State on Friday, in Ames Iowa. The Frogs enter this weekend's play with an overall record of 11-7 (2-5 Big 12).
Last time out, the Mountaineers suffered a 7-0 loss to No. 17 Oklahoma State on April 2, in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
