Wallace Named Student-Athlete of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Junior Landon Wallace of the West Virginia University baseball team has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week presented by University Apartments after a big week against Marshall and Kansas.
Wallace hit .467 (7-for-15) with three home runs, two doubles, five RBIs, and eight runs scored along with an OPS of 1.729. He had a hit in all four games of the week including multiple hits in three of the games.
After a two-hit performance against the Herd in a midweek victory for the Mountaineers, Wallace hit a home run in game one of the series against Kansas. He then followed that showing with another two hits on Saturday, including a double, while scoring two runs.
The Roseville, California native saved his best game of the week for Sunday, hitting two home runs with three RBIs and three runs scored against the Jayhawks, leading WVU to a 12-3 win in the series finale.
On the season, Wallace is hitting .311 with five home runs, eight doubles, three triples, and 25 RBIs. He is also 10-for-10 on stolen bases, including two straight steals of home.
This Week: The Mountaineers (23-9, 3-3 Big 12) hit the road for four games this week beginning with Penn State on Tuesday, April 11, at 6 p.m. ET, before going to Stillwater for a weekend series against Oklahoma State. First pitch on Friday, April 14, and Saturday, April 15, against the Cowboys is set for 7 p.m. with Sunday, April 16, scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
