
WVU Welcomes Kansas State and No.13 Kansas, Opens Big 12 Play

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team (9-3, 0-0 Big 12) opens Big 12 Conference play at home against Kansas State on Friday, March 10, and No. 13 Kansas on Sunday, March 12, at the Summit Tennis Academy in Morgantown.
Competition on Friday against Kansas State will begin at 5 p.m. ET. First serve against the Jayhawks on Sunday is set for 11 a.m. ET. Live stats and a live stream for both matches can be found on WVUsports.com.
During Friday's match against Kansas State, there will be free pizza and gear giveaways for the first 10 attendees.
First up against the Wildcats, this week's matchup marks the 13th meeting between the two schools with WVU seeking its first-ever win against Kansas State. In its last meeting, KSU defeated the Mountaineers, 4-0, at the Mike Goss Tennis Center, in Manhattan, Kansas.
Kansas State (2-10, 0-0 Big 12) enters Friday's matchup after suffering a 3-4 loss to Wichita State on March 3.
West Virginia and KU (9-1, 0-0 Big 12) will meet this weekend for the 10th time since joining the Big 12. During last year's competition, the Mountaineers fell to the Jayhawks, 5-2. WVU claimed the doubles point and sophomore Tatiana Lipatova defeated KU's Raphaelle Lacasse, 6-3, 7-5, during singles play.
The Jayhawks will enter Sunday's competition after facing Iowa State on March 10. Last time out, Kansas defeated No. 22 Old Dominion, 4-3.
The Mountaineers enter the weekend after a pair of wins against Cleveland State (5-2) and Howard (6-1) on March 4.
