MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The promotional slate and single-meet tickets for the West Virginia University gymnastics team's 2022 home meets were announced by the WVU Athletics Marketing and Ticket Offices on Monday.
The Mountaineers' home and Big 12 opener against reigning Big 12 Champion Denver on Friday, Jan. 21, is Dollar Day, with tickets and select concessions available for $1 each. It's also the first of two Friday Night Happy Hours planned for the season, as the concession stands will offer half-priced drinks from 6-7 p.m.
The home opener also is Mountaineer Kids Club Day, and MKC members can pick up their t-shirts at the meet. Friday also features special appearances by Mr. Twister, the face-painting and balloon animal artist, and Musket, the Mountaineer Kids Club's mascot. Additionally, there will be a foam finger giveaway for the first 500 fans through the gates.
West Virginia's tri-meet against regional rival Pitt and Texas Woman's on Friday, Feb. 11, is the Women's Empowerment Meet. Women working in various fields and occupations will be set up throughout the concourse at the WVU Coliseum. A t-shirt giveaway will be available for kids who participate in the stations prior to the start of the meet. The meet also is the second Friday Night Happy Hour of the season.
WVU's annual Cancer Awareness Meet is planned for the Mountaineers' tri-meet against George Washington and William & Mary on Monday, Feb. 21. There will be a pink shaker giveaway, courtesy of the WVU Cancer Institute. Additionally, any fans who are shorter than the life-size, 4-foot-11 cutout of freshman Anna Leigh will receive free admission.
The Mountaineers' home season finale on Sunday, March 6, is Senior Day, as the team will honor seniors Esperanza Abarca, Kendra Combs and Rachel Hornung following the meet against Ball State. It also will be Routines and Raffles Day, as fans will have a chance to win various prizes between each rotation.
Additionally, the Mountaineers will be available to meet with fans and sign autographs at "Chalk Talk" after the first three home meets this year.
Fans can purchase tickets for regular-season home meets by visiting WVUGAME.com, calling 1-800-WVU-GAME or at the Mountaineer Ticket Office, located at the Gold Gate of the WVU Coliseum. All tickets are general admission.
